The palette moves through smoky pinks, deep blues, purples, muted greens and earthy neutrals — all softened by the translucency of vellum.

And that translucency is where things get interesting. Layer a sheet over book pages, painted backgrounds or other collage elements and let what's underneath become part of the composition. Stack two vellum designs together. Cut out a single moth, flower or strange bird. Tear off a fragment. Or use an entire 4" × 6" sheet as a transparent layer in a journal or mixed-media piece.

You get two of every design, so you can use one whole and happily sacrifice the other to your scissors.
