Project 1082: Make It Bloom

Black and white gives us structure. Watercolor brings the unexpected. This project brings the two together to build a flower that refuses to stay inside its original shape.

Start with a black-and-white bloom from Black House White Market, then hand-cut watercolor petals from Wandering Watercolor (or any colorful page you love) that reach, overlap and spill outward around it. Vary the petals' size, color and direction to turn one small flower into a much larger bloom — while keeping its bold black-and-white center front and center.

A guided but improvisational project: no two blooms will come out the same.
